
South Africa’s first black president Nelson Mandela, 90, has voted in the country’s fourth democratic elections,15 years after his election ended white minority rule.
Mandela walked, aided by a local politician, into the voting station to massive cheers and smiled and waved at crowds before casting his ballots.
The Nobel Peace Laureate made a rare public showing on Sunday by coming out in support of the ruling African National Congress at a final election rally alongside controversial presidential frontrunner Jacob Zuma.
